Who we are

We built the firm we thought our clients needed.

Twenty-plus years on one problem, and over thirty years each of complex tax experience. We started this firm when the technology finally caught up to the thing we kept being unable to solve.

Everything is downstream of the register.

Depreciation. Cost recovery. CAS compliance. The research credit. Every one of them is computed off the fixed asset list, and every one of them is wrong in the same way when the list is wrong.

The problem is far older than our careers. For as long as there have been fixed-asset registers of any size, they have been too large to put right by hand, so companies patched them instead. They brought in outside help every three to five years, corrected what could be corrected in the time available, and watched the same errors return. We watched that cycle from the inside and from the outside, across a great many federal budget cycles.

Technology finally caught up. FactorTax is what we built when it did: the register put right once, then read for both regulators, in manufacturing.

The founders

Two people who have spent their careers inside this problem.

Co-Founder
Angela Desmond

Angela brings more than three decades of experience in ad valorem taxation, with particular expertise in property tax exemptions and complex, multistate matters.

She began her career managing a major municipal redevelopment initiative involving hundreds of tax-delinquent residential and commercial properties.

Angela later spent more than a decade in Big Four practice, advising Fortune 100 companies on real and personal property tax matters across 45 states. She represented clients in contested tax and property exemption proceedings, including matters argued before multiple state supreme courts. Her experience also includes leading tax and exemption reviews for government contractors, including engagements that resulted in multimillion-dollar recoveries.

Since leaving the Big Four, Angela has founded and led tax advisory firms and served as a tax director responsible for building a small-business tax practice. Drawing on her legal, technical, and operational experience, she developed the FactorTax methodology and designed the technology platform that supports the firm’s work today.

Throughout her career, Angela has combined sophisticated tax analysis with practical execution—helping organizations identify opportunities, manage risk, and establish stronger, more defensible tax positions.

Co-Founder
Todd Corbo

Todd brings decades of experience in complex federal taxation, with particular expertise in fixed assets, depreciation, accounting methods, and tax controversy. His professional approach is shaped by 29 years of military service, culminating in his retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel, and by the mission focus, accountability, and disciplined execution that service demanded. Todd is an attorney and holds an MBA.

His career spans Big Four and other public accounting practices as well as senior corporate tax leadership. He has built and led services for capital-intensive businesses focused on cost segregation, fixed-asset optimization, accounting methods, and federal tax planning.

In industry, Todd has directed fixed-asset, depreciation, and accounting-method functions for Fortune 500 and multibillion-dollar manufacturers. His experience includes large-scale fixed-asset reviews and complex accounting-method changes, from technical analysis and implementation through examination defense.

His broader practice includes research credits, transfer pricing, and federal and state tax controversy. As an attorney and federally authorized tax practitioner, he represents clients through examination and appeal.

Todd combines unusual technical breadth with disciplined execution—helping organizations identify opportunities, manage complexity, and establish tax positions designed to withstand scrutiny.

Together

Neither half of this problem is solvable alone.

The register sits between two bodies of law that are almost never held by the same person. One side is federal contracting: what the government will accept as a cost, how it must be allocated, what happens when a practice changes. The other is federal tax: classification, method, the machinery for correcting years that were filed wrong.

Read one without the other and you get the failure this firm exists to prevent, a position that is right on one side and creates exposure on the other. Between us we have both, and we have them at the depth the work actually requires rather than one specialty with the other bolted on.

That is the package. One register, established once, read by two people who each spent a career on a different half of the problem.

How we work

Solve it once. Then make the next decision easier.

We put the register right once, properly. Then, through the annual program, we work with the people who actually decide — helping them see where risk is accumulating and where tax can be minimized before the choice is made rather than after.

That is the whole idea. Not a repair that has to be redone every three to five years by whoever is available that quarter. A position that holds, and a client who understands why it holds.

Let’s go!

One register. Two regulators. No remainder.

Start with a scoped Diagnostic, or go straight to FAR Phase 1. Either way, we read the contract side first.
